A substantial cast iron stove body in the manner of the Gurney Stove, with a strong, architectural presence. Built in sections and defined by deep vertical fins that wrap the form, each rib increasing surface area and pushing heat out into the room with quiet efficiency. At the centre, a hinged access hatch sits within the body, originally used for clearing ash or tending the firebox below. Low-set air intake vents at the base would have fed the fire with a steady draw of oxygen, while the interior shows subtle spiral rifling beneath the top rim, designed to slow and circulate heat before it escaped.

This example represents a single section rather than a complete unit and would likely have originally sat beneath a domed top leading into a flue. The body is heavily worn, with notable cracks, making reuse as a functional stove unlikely. Its value now sits in the sculptural industrial form. A weighty, textural piece that holds presence as an object in its own right, still carrying the spirit of Goldsworthy Gurney’s original design thinking.
