This is a vintage industrial grinding wheel, likely dating back to the early 20th century, made by the renowned Baldwin and Heap. It would have been centrally driven by a belt and used for sharpening industrial or agricultural tools. Constructed from cast iron and featuring a 450mm diameter sandstone grinding wheel housed in a semi cuticular trough that would have contained water for wet grinding. There is a makers mark on the base for 'Samuel Baldwin & Heap Ltd Makers Burnley' This item is not functional and sold only as a decorative item.
