This metal meat safe would have been used before refrigerators became common and affordable to store perishable foods. Originally located outside near to the scullery door in a cool, shaded area or inside in a draughty passage away from the heat of the kitchen. Later as house design changed and did not lead itself to placing safes outside, they were often found in a cool tiled panty or larder. Internally there are two adjustable galvanised shelves. Wall mountable with off white distressed paint finish. Wear including knocks and scuffs is consistent with age. Please use the listing photos as a visual reference of condition.
